From The Old Richardsville Rd Bridge

Google Maps view of shooting location

This bridge is surprisingly busy. These are relatively short exposures, but I shot a few 5 minute exposures and that was difficult to do without a vehicle shaking the bridge.

Lost River Frogs

What can I say, frogs are easy.

The one that almost got me.

Well, it didn't almost get me, but it did sneak up behind me.

This shot had a little work done to lighten up the tunnel. There is quite noticeable noise - it was getting fairly dark (the jeep has its lights on), and I did not bother with the tripod.

As an afterthought, here is one without the deadly jeep, and in color.

One More Big Moon.

I went back again tonight, as the moon was to rise after dark. I had a few decent shots, but the medical helicopter came through as I was exposing this shot - it is slightly interesting. Note that you can see red reflections in the water.

The sky was redder tonight than last night, I also white balanced on the yellow side (compared to last night). It was rather blue last night as it wasn't quite dark when the moon rose.

Big Moon of 2012

The moon was at its nearest point to the earth for this year, although I did not notice that the full moon was larger than normal.

This first one is heavily cropped, I just don't have the glass to get there, and don't think I would use it enough to justify that kind of cash. So, for now, we crop.

A trip to the park.

Stopped by Mammoth Cave NP to shoot a few frogs at the pond. There were no frogs wishing to take advantage of the free photo offer.
I had to make due with other subjects.

More Water.

Sometimes I stop, sometimes I don't.

This time I did.

Shanty Hollow, Again.

I will do this same shot this fall.

Well... If nothing else, it is interesting.

It was getting fairly dark, this is a 30 second shot. The foreground is illuminated by a security light from the parking lot, the background is lit by a big fusion reaction eight light-minutes or so away.

This isn't what I stopped to shoot, and I almost didn't shoot it. I was looking for ways to shoot the barn. My first thought when I noticed the basketball goal was 'wow, that would be stupid', then I thought, 'yes, that would be stupid'. So there you go.

And, just for the heck of it, a field. Nothing but a field (no barn).

Back again, dogwood season.

I said I'd come back in a few days. The dogwoods are great. This is, of course, Fairview Cemetery. Probably the best dogwood spot in Bowling Green.
No fancy tripods, polarizers or neutral density filters today - just a little B&W and LOTS of cropping.

My next idea for this location is to come back at night, maybe I won't get kicked out.

The dogwoods are in bloom, and I have time to kill.

Last fall, I had pretty good success in this cemetery on a foggy morning. I have planned on shooting here for years during the spring dogwood blooming season. I had some time to kill Friday, so I did (kill time here), then came back early Saturday morning for a little more. Like I said, I had time to kill, so I shot a lot of 30 second shots (10x ND filter), which fuzzes the trees, and streaks the clouds. If you can't dazzle them with good shots, then baffle them with funky shots.

Officially, the theme is dogwood blooms, but you can't tell by looking.

Friday afternoon:
A little heavy on the polarizer. (above)

30 Second Exposure

Yes, it hasn't been that long since I have been here - point taken. It is an interesting location, and I will be here a lot in varying conditions. All the dogwoods hadn't yet peaked, so I'll probably go back in a few days.

More Lost River

More lost river, although at this point, it's not so lost.

Another rainy day. My favorite time to shoot.
