Caving!

My friend Jim, who is a caver, recently got into photography. He took me into a few caves and we had a good time with the cameras (thanks Jim). Jim was the lighting and idea man. I, mostly, was just along for the ride and took photos after he set the lights.

The two photos with light streaks are Jim walking back to the cameras after setting up a light.

A snake on the lake.

Well, of course the lake was crazy on memorial day weekend, but I did maneuver my way to a quieter cove. This little guy was moving along at a pretty good clip. Just fired off a long spray of shots. Only a few were decent, but as long as I got one, I was satisfied.

Not from the lake!

Wow, not from the lake. Refreshing.

Coming in for a landing.

This will, hopefully, be the end of the herons for a while. This guy is coming in for a landing near my canoe. It usually happens the other way (they fly away from me).

If more herons soon, then they will have to be really special. Of course I could change my mind, and 'special' is a relative term.

Another trip to the lake, another round of birds.

First of all, let me say, that the heron looks very cartoonish. I don't know the physics, but when the light levels are low and I have to bump up the ISO or use long shutter speeds.... The heron always looks cartoonish. Need to look into that.
They don't turn out that way at all in the sunshine, or even shade.

More bird shots from the lake. I just don't see this shutting down anytime soon.
One of the shots looks comical. The heron was facing one direction, but when he decided I was enough of an annoyance, he turned around on the tree stump to fly out of the cove. He looks really bowlegged in that shot.

This guy (above), may be a 'Prothonotary Warbler'. The guy below is, apparently, a 'Tree Swallow'. I could be wrong on both counts. Looked through google images.

Another day, another bird.

Well, went back out on the restored canoe again tonight. Shot
another bird. Haven't identified it yet. It looks a lot like sandpipers I found on google. If it is a sandpiper, I don't know what flavor.

As a bonus, here is some type of mushroom, in a bed of moss, on a log, in the lake, from a canoe.

Herons, here we go again.

Undoubtedly, this will again become the 'all heron all the time' channel, so here we go again. Took a canoe I recently restored out to Shanty Hollow for a test paddle. Test paddle or no, of course I took cameras.

Duck!

Took a fairly long trip up the nolin river Saturday. Wanted to get some baby ducks.

Need to increase the depth of field next time. Neither of the photos with ducklings are sharp at all. I'll work on that.

Two birds on the Nolin River.

Took the canoe out again today. The first bird is a green heron. The last three are a female wood duck trying to get me to follow her as opposed to her kids. Apparently it worked, no duckling photos.

Bubbles!

Bought a new canoe. Trying it out at Shanty Hollow in the rain. Was trying to capture a bubble bursting. Did not get one, but I liked some of the bubbles anyway.
